We applaud
you for the vital impact you have on education.
Teaching students HOW TO LEARN, engaging them
in learning processes and teaching them how
to apply received knowledge in today's increasingly
complex and technological society can be very
challenging and sometimes almost impossible.
Over one million students drop out of high
school every year. One of the main reasons,
according to them, is that academic subjects
are not interesting, and what they have to
learn in school has nothing to do with their
daily lives and is therefore, a waste of time.
After discussing this problem with a number
of experienced teachers we came to a mutual
agreement: we need to rethink strategies and
create innovate ways to get children engaged
and motivated to learn.
MTASA has developed an Interactive Scrapbook
Endeavors Program (ISEP) that combines both
academic and artistic curriculums. ISEP is
comprised of multiple, theme-oriented projects,
such as: Biodiversity, Science, Sociology,
Folklore, Heritage, Olympics, Media Literacy
and Environmental Literacy.
Every one of them presents children and teens
from 6 to 18 years old with real life challenges.
They complete every project with their own
scrapbook, where the unique educational experience
is documented through creative writing, photography
and art.
Teachers that are participating in ISEP receive
a step by step instructional guide, lesson
plans, art supplies necessary to complete
the project. In addition, MTASA staff assists
schools with field trips, professional lecturers,
and provides teachers and volunteers as needed.
